DESCRIPTION:Learn about Business Cashflow and Tax Implications! \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nLogan Office of Economic Development (LOED) has partnered with Griffith University Tax Clinic and Small Business Financial Counselling Service to present you with this workshop. \nCommencing a business is complex with many decisions required to be made. One of the decisions that sometimes is overlooked is the ‘tax’ implications of running a business. Tax is an important consideration as ignoring it can result in penalties and interest charges\, but it can also influence the cash flow of the business. This series of workshops will provide an overview of important tax considerations that people about to commence a business should take into account. \nAbout the workshop:\nThis workshop will consider how the various types of taxes (particularly income tax and GST) can influence a business’ cash flow\, not only in terms of profit margin\, but also when payments are due. The workshop will also look at: \n\nemployment\ntax\, particularly superannuation obligations\, and\nfringe benefits tax.\n\nAbout the presenters:\nBrett Freudenberg\nBrett Freudenberg is a Professor – Taxation at Griffith University (Australia). \nBrett is known for his research expertise in the tax law and policy issues facing private enterprises\, as evidenced by his Fulbright Scholarship (2006) and over 80 refereed publications in leading Australian and international journals. \nBrett is passionate about education being a transformative process\, and his effectiveness as a teacher has been recognised through five national awards (including the award of two Australian Learning and Teaching Council citations: 2008 & 2011). \nIn 2019 Brett was successful in securing funding from the Federal Government to establish the Griffith Tax Clinic\, which sees students under supervision providing tax assistance to those in need in the community. \nAdditional information\nTime: 1-3 pm\, Thursday 11th August 2022 \nLocation: Logan City Council\, 150 Wembley Road\, Logan Central. \nCheck-in: Please check in at Information Desk at entry.

The aims of the conference include to: \n\n\n\n\n\nPromote knowledge with an aim of contributing positively to Australian and African economies;\nFoster dialogue that promotes the exchange of ideas and innovative thinking amongst government\, universities\, corporate\, community and entrepreneurs in Australia and Africa; and\nEncourage and enhance research on economic\, governance and policy issues relating to the development of African economies\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe conference will also focus on increasing awareness and visibility of diaspora from African nations and their contribution to Australia and Africa\, economically\, culturally\, and socially. \nA longer-term focus is to establish a system that will connect investment projects with the public and private sectors in Australia for inclusive development in Africa.
