Logan Plan a step closer to community consultation
Logan City Council’s blueprint for managing growth, housing and infrastructure in the City of Logan over the coming decades has reached another milestone.
The city’s updated planning scheme – Logan Plan – will be reviewed by the Queensland Government ahead of the community having a chance to comment later this year through a formal consultation phase.
Mayor Jon Raven said Logan Plan would help shape the city’s future.
“Over the next 15 years, Logan is set to experience incredible growth,” he said.
“We’re an affordable and attractive location for young families to live, work and play.
“The planning scheme is our strategic direction for housing, infrastructure, the local economy and jobs, community needs and the environment.
“We are going to see great things happen as our city grows and we prepare for 2032 and beyond.”
The first draft of Logan Plan was submitted to the Queensland Government in September 2023.
It has been refined to align with the updated regional plan ShapingSEQ 2023 and state interests, but requires ministerial approval to proceed to community consultation.
While this review phase happens, Council will begin preparing for the 8-week consultation period in late-2025.
“I really encourage everyone in our city to give feedback when we reach that point,” Mayor Raven said.
“We’ll have lots of different ways for people to learn more and share their thoughts about Logan Plan, including in-person sessions, and a range of digital options.
“We are shaping the city for generations to come.
“The way for you to leave your legacy is to look at what is planned and let us know what works – and what doesn’t.”
