SUMMARY:Good Governance – a for-purpose Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:“Whether it’s a community sport\, charity or business\, every organisation needs good governance AND good operations. But have you ever stopped to explore where the line between the two should be? In the community sector\, many board and committee members rise to leadership positions almost by default. They typically have two motivations: interest and passion. But while each board member may have been on the operational side of their organisation for many years\, they don’t necessarily have a focused\, systemised approach to good governance. So it’s easy for them to keep getting drawn back into operations\, leaving all of the governance duties to slip. Understanding the separation of governance and operations can be critical to the success of an organisation. Michael’s short presentation will help you see the board’s role in a new way by shining a light on that line between the two\, and help you reassess how much time you get to spend ON the business\, while still making sure all the operational duties are covered.” – Michael Connelly | Managing Director | CPR Group \nWillem is a professionally registered Industrial engineer with postgraduate degrees in engineering and business and is a Certified Business coach/facilitator with The Alternative Board International. He has worked in the Fuel & Chemical Industry\, with experience in Operational & Scheduled maintenance\, Supply Chain and Logistics projects\, Logistics operations\, Operational support and Alternative access systems (scaffolding\, mobile platforms\, cranes and cherry pickers) and ended his Twenty-year career in the corporate world as the Lead Engineer for a Chemicals division of an International corporation. \nWillem brings that experience and knowledge to the small/medium/micro business through The Alternative Board\, which focuses on bringing business owners together to share knowledge and expertise and establishes a safe & confidential environment to challenge ideas and ask the relevant questions for their business to the next level. Over the last five years at The Alternative Board\, Willem has helped business owners unlock exponential business growth\, survive hostile takeover attempts\, grow through the impact of Covid challenges and not only unlock but achieve the personal goals that they had envisioned when starting out on their business owners’ journey. \nBook in today and we’ll see you at the Logan Chamber of Commerce “For Purpose” Breakfast!
