DESCRIPTION:Logan Office of Economic Development (LOED) has partnered with Griffith University Tax Clinic and Small Business Financial Counselling Service to present you with this workshop. \nCommencing a business is difficult with many decisions required to be made. One of the first decisions that need to be made is what business structure to use. The business structure might as a sole trader\, partnership\, company or trust. This decision affects many legal relationships\, as well as tax. This series of workshops will provide an overview of important tax considerations that people about to commence a business should consider. \nAbout the workshop:\nThis workshop will consider how the business structures (whether a sole trader\, partnership\, company or trust) can influence who has the tax obligations\, as well as the rate of tax. This workshop will explain: \n\nthe basic premise of the different business structures\nhow your business structure choice can affect income\, deductions and tax rates\, and\nhow the business structure influences the relationship with workers (such as employees and contractors).\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a workshop during Queensland Small Business Month (QSBM)\, facilitated by the ATO\, aimed at helping small business owners understand the expenses they can claim for their businesses. \nYou will learn:\n(1) An introduction to the ATO’s new online learning platform for small business \nEssentials to strengthen your small business has been developed to provide free and professional education to support small businesses thrive. It provides a range of courses covering: \n\nbusiness lifecycle stages – idea\, start-up\, day-to-day\, change and exit\nreporting obligations – for example\, businesses with employees\, GST or fringe benefits tax\nlearning needs – what good record keeping is\, how to improve cash flow or grow the business\nother circumstances – for example\, help setting up a business\, checking if the business is viable or needs to be closed.\n\n(2) Claiming small business tax deductions: \nThis session will help you know which deductions you can claim and when you can claim them. This is the third book in her Stories of HOPE series. Fifteen men share their stories of darkness and hope on the other side of the struggle. \nJoin us for a special In Conversation event with Kerrie. Logan resident Justin Geange from Mates in Construction will also join Kerrie. Justin is featured in Kerrie’s second book. Mates in Construction aims to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. \nJason Dasey from Radio Logan 101FM will be the MC at this event and has written the foreword to the new book. \nBookings are essential for both the in-person and the online event. \nIf you register for the online event\, you will receive your booking link the day prior to this event. \nBooks will be available for purchase and signing at the in-person event.
